Short answer
Film Ethiopia handles the physical movement of your production: airport meet-and-greet, 4x4 and unit vehicles with experienced production drivers, domestic flights on the national carrier's extensive internal network, film-friendly accommodation that accepts early breakfasts and late returns, catering including dietary requirements, fuel and cash planning for regions where cards do not work, satellite communication where mobile coverage fails, and convoy management with medic and security adviser for remote or sensitive areas.
Ground transport
We run production vehicles, not tourist minibuses. That means drivers who understand a call sheet, who will wait through a six-hour setup without complaint, who know the roads at night, and who can get a spare part in a town with no dealership. For remote work we convoy, so a breakdown does not strand a unit.
Fleet ranges from single 4x4s for a two-person crew to multi-vehicle units with a truck, a generator vehicle and a support vehicle. Roof racks, extra fuel, recovery gear and satellite comms are standard for anything outside the main corridors.
Air and internal travel
Ethiopia's domestic aviation network is unusually good for the region, and a domestic flight often turns a two-day drive into an hour, which pays for itself in crew days. We book internal flights, manage the excess baggage on camera kit — which is where the cost hides — and arrange vehicles waiting at the far end.
Where a location genuinely has no road or airstrip, we plan the mule, boat or charter option and cost it honestly.
Cash, fuel, food and connectivity
Outside the main cities, cards do not work, ATMs run dry and fuel supply can be intermittent. We plan cash, carry it securely, keep receipted accounts, and pre-position fuel where necessary. Catering is arranged locally and we cover vegetarian, vegan, halal and allergy requirements without treating them as an inconvenience.
For connectivity we set up local SIMs and data on arrival, and for remote regions we deploy satellite communications so that a producer in London can still reach the unit in the Afar desert.
