The manifest is the whole job
Almost every equipment problem at Bole traces back to a sloppy manifest. Customs will compare what is written on the paper against what is in the cases, item by item, and a mismatch turns a forty-minute clearance into a two-day negotiation.
We build the manifest with you before you fly: every camera body, lens, monitor, recorder, radio mic, battery, light, stand, drone and laptop, with make, model, serial number, quantity and declared value, plus the total case count and weights. Consumables and giveaways are listed separately because they are treated differently.
Temporary import routes
A temporary admission arrangement lets the gear enter duty-free on the understanding that it leaves again with you. Where that route is not available for your equipment or country of origin, the alternative is a refundable deposit against the assessed duty, lodged by a licensed clearing agent and reclaimed on export.
Deposits tie up cash for the duration of the shoot and sometimes beyond, so we tell you the likely figure early enough that it can be budgeted rather than discovered at the airport.
On the day
Our fixer meets your crew at arrivals with the clearing agent already in position and the paperwork lodged. We handle the inspection, the fees and the release, and we walk the gear out to the vehicles. On departure we run the same process in reverse so that the temporary import is properly closed out and any deposit is released.
For heavy packages we advise shipping as air cargo ahead of the crew rather than as excess baggage, and we arrange bonded storage in Addis Ababa between legs of a multi-region shoot.
